BONUS: TOP 25 VIDEO GAME-INSPIRED KICKS
I made number 3 on a list of the top video game-inspired kicks by Complex, so I have decided to throw in a bonus list for today.
I call it a bonus list because a majority of the shoes on this list are not actually shoes, but concepts, and a great many of them could not be produced as they are designed, but I’m a picky blogger.
Also my shoes are better than the ugly Mario Chucks at number one so don’t mind me while I sit here and hate… those Atari kicks are clean though.
Samus has got you in her crosshairs thanks to Oskunk and his new custom Super NES Metroid design. Check out more of his excellent creations here.
So I got some Posca markers the other day, and this is how I tested them out.
Kind of drew the HuCast on the Dreamcast for my little brother as he is a huge fan of the game, but im not too sure im happy with it anymore.
Whether it’s pumps, trainers, or boots, custom shoe designers have created a strong niche for themselves in the world of fashion.
Participants will learn the detailed process of customizing and selling shoes, while viewing and analyzing custom shoe design theory with world-renowned artist Jacob Patterson.
Limited spaces available; 12 seats. Emails honored by time received. Call or email with “LA Workshop” in subject line to reserve a seat after down payment. Lunch, materials, and sneakers included in price.Above is all of the info for my upcoming workshop! In case you didn’t know, I am giving away free games and shirts of my own design to those who help me fill all twelve seats by sharing it online! Details soon.
Participants can expect to learn everything there is to know about custom sneakers. From prepping to designing, to painting and finishing, students will walk away from this workshop with a damn cheap piece of artwork to wear on their feet, and the knowhow to create their own fresh kicks for free from that point on.
I have been around the block in the world of custom shoes, and have painted everything from cleats to heels, but I am also excited to announce that custom sneakers’ only dedicated historian, Brandon “Evolved-Footwear” Laskowski, will be flying out to document this event (and maybe conduct a panel with me if I can convince him!).
Email me at [email protected] for information, or visit my site to see a bit of my work and contact me there!
The workshop is in Downtown Los Angeles on October 22nd & 23rd, and runs from 11am-4pm both days, with a night in between for artists to bring their work home and paint in private! I will also be releasing the work of each participant on my blog and YouTube channel, if they are so inclined.
Thanks for the love,
Jacob
LEGO builder extraordinaire PLUM B built a super impressive / functioning life-size Gears of War Lancer Assault Rifle. It’s so beautiful…
“It features a clip-fed firing mechanism that shoots rubber bands – perfect for taking out the paper Locust horde. If that’s not enough, the saw blade on the front of the gun is motorized for slice and dice action!”
Check out the video below to see it in action!

In celebration of my copy of Gears of War 3 arriving, and the all-inclusive badassery involved in such an event, I want to reblog my Gears of War shoes.
Titled Dom’s Dunks, the shoes were made in anticipation of hanging out with the voice actor who plays Dom Santiago (as well as Da Vinci in Assassin’s Creed) for a Gears of War 2 launch party.
We support starving artists :)
